Lessons in Grace

Happy Summer!!
So here I am on my 36th birthday. The kids are hot, restless and some are screaming. I just finished scrubbing a toilet, cleaning a poopy two year old and I just got a call from the Jamestown special education director telling me that I didn’t get the dream job I had interviewed for. It was a part-time job as the Jamestown school psychologist and I had been called back for a second interview and they deliberated for three days between me and another candidate, but I lost in the end to a PhD/neuropsychologist with clinical skills that I cannot match. So, am I writing to tell you how cranky I am on my birthday today? Of course not!! I’m Grace’s mom. I can’t be sulky.
I feel refreshed actually. I know what I will be doing in September. I will be home taking great care of the duties that God has entrusted to me. The job prospect was truly a 50/50 feeling. It would have been great to get back into a professional world and do what I love doing but I also am very content and happy to be home taking care of my five children and Grace who requires so much time and patience. The great thing is…when you live in total trust that God is in control, then it really doesn’t matter what the outcomes are in the end. It all comes down to knowing and believing that I am where God wants me to be and I am going where He wants me to go.
I have always known that Grace was special and had the ability to touch people’s hearts. Since Race for Grace 2008, I have been overwhelmed with stories and cards and emails from people telling me their personal stories of how Grace changed their lives and families. One such story is about a little girl (about 6 years old) (more…)
