How the sponsorship process works:
An IRSF Strollathon relies mostly on walkers and runners (“strollers and rollers”) to collect donations ahead of time through sponsors- aka family, friends and coworkers who will donate money toward the event.
Every participant must complete a registration/sponsor form (collection brochure) which enables him/her to ask family and friends to contribute. The money is collected in the collection brochure and brought to the event and presented during “registration”. There is no registration fee, the Race for Grace runs on donations only.
Names and addresses are important, as all donors will receive a letter or postcard from IRSF in appreciation of their support.
Donations of $50 or more will receive a letter from IRSF which can be used for tax purposes.
A person is more than welcome to collect donations for the Race for Grace even if they will be unable to attend. They can still ask family or friends to contribute to the Race directly (instead of sponsoring a specific participant). The donations can be presented to any team captain or race coordinator ahead of time.
What if I just show up to support Grace on race day?
While we prefer that participants complete a registration/sponsorship form, we fully understand that some folks show up on race day to support Grace and we are truly thankful for that support. We simply ask for a race day donation to participate in this great event

WHERE DO THE FUNDS GO?
All proceeds go directly to the International Rett Syndrome Foundation
•The International Rett Syndrome Foundation (IRSF) is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) corporation which was established in July 2007 through the merger of the Rett Syndrome Research Foundation and the International Rett Syndrome Association.
•The three-pronged mission of IRSF is to focus on Research, Family Support and Advocacy.
•IRSF is the largest private source of funds for biomedical research on Rett syndrome.
•The goal of IRSF is to fund the highest quality research, while focusing on projects that will accelerate the speed with which basic science discoveries are translated into clinical application for patients with Rett syndrome.
•IRSF organizes and sponsors the annual Rett Syndrome Symposium which gathers researchers and clinicians from around the world to exchange the latest information and establish the research direction.
•IRSF organizes and sponsors the annual International Rett Syndrome Foundation Conference which provides continuing educational opportunities and connections to parents, family members, therapists, teachers, physicians and other individuals involved in the day-to-day care of individuals with Rett syndrome. Each year the conference is held in different parts of the U.S.
•The Foundation directs 95% of each dollar donated directly to program services.
•IRSF publishes a variety of print and media materials aimed to help provide the best and most current information to families and extended caretakers of loved ones living with Rett syndrome.
•IRSF maintains a comprehensive database of individuals with Rett syndrome. It also maintains a physician database of those familiar with the disorder.
Together, let’s help the thousands of undeserving girls who face the battle of Rett Syndrome everyday, have a better life. Hope to see you there.

May God’s “Grace” be in your heart.
-Tara & David Reddington,
Parents of Grace (RTT), 5 yrs.

“We all need more GRACE in our lives. Race for Grace is dedicated not only to finding a cure for Rett Syndrome but also to awaken people to the gift of GRACE that is free and always available when we chose to recognize and receive it.”
~Tara Reddington.
